That Innervate is Mine!!

So the other day someone in my raid asked me to innervate them, I told them that I usually save it for myself because I end up needing it for most fights and they thought I was crazy or something. So I decided to make a post on it and see what you guys have to say, as well as explain my logic behind it.

This of course is not the case in every encounter. There are fights where it really isn't very healing intensive and I can spare an innervate for a dps that would like to see if he/she can boost his/her dps, however on most fights I end up needing it. If you have your haste up high enough to give you a nice 1 second global cool down (which I really hope you do considering there are so many things you can do to boost your haste even if you don't have great gear yet) and your constantly casting then your mana goes down no matter what your regeneration is at. My guess would be that [Trauma] and [Sundial of Eternal Dusk] make up the best in slot for weapons, if you can get your hands on those heroic items. Otherwise I think the regular version of them would be your best bet, however in some situations I think that [Dying Light] is better. How does this have anything to do with innervate? I'll get to that in a second however the main point here is that it wouldn't be a bad idea to get your hands on both of these items and keep them on hand. Now for how this relates to your innervate:

  • When using [Trauma] and [Sundial of Eternal Dusk] you don't get very much mana regeneration. While on most fights this will still do well enough to get by (if you use innervate when your around 75% mana you can usually use it twice in a fight). If you are entering a fight such as The Lich King that is quite a long encounter with intensive healing through out the entire fight, you may be better off using [Dying Light]. While this also means that you can use innervate more then once throughout the encounter I still find myself running out of mana towards the end. [Dying Light] fixes that for me.
    • Another fight for which I would rather [Dying Light] is Deathbringer Saurfang simply because its mostly single target healing and your proc from [Trauma] doesn't really do as much as it would on some of the other fights.

So as you've seen from some of my other posts I use healbot, and the buttons I click different spells are ctrl and shift, so I have key binds set up on either side of my keyboard by the control and shifts depending on which ones I am using at the time. The innervate related key bind is a macro:

/target [your name]
/use Innervate
and I have the innervate on the bars so that I can see immediately when it is off CD and use it again.

Ya I'll have to try that one out just for fun but I usually put the boss on my focus target and watch it that way, and with heal bot I don't have to target someone to heal so generally It doesn't matter who I am targeting. But I'm definitely going to try out that macro for fun :P thanks

A way you can macro it to not target yourself but still cast on you is:

/cast [@player] Innervate

Keeps you from loosing whatever target you had before (I like having the boss targeted to gauge phases and how long a fight will take, or watch things like Saurfang's energy), without needing to throw /targetlasttarget in there :)

When I am healing I tend to use innervate on myself, and when I am dpsing (fights that only require 2 healers) I save it for someone that needs it.

It always seems so wrong when I have to use my Innervate on someone else! I have mine macro'd to cast on me regardless of what's happening, but also have it on my bars for those times when someone ELSE gets it. (usually after a brez)
