Heroic: Sindragosa 25-Man
Sindragosa, while easier then Putricide, was the last heroic boss my guild decided to work on and on 5/24 we killed her. Unfortunately neither [Memory of Malygos] or [Sundial of Eternal Dusk] dropped, oh well there will be more opportunities for that. This fight really will test how well you can move while healing. Phase 1:This phase is just like the normal mode of the encounter with the exception that unchained magic now explodes and deals damage to anyone around you. Our first thought was, ok so we run away from the raid and continue casting, but due to how many people are effected by it and how large the blast range is, that strategy doesn't work very well. Thus we tried something different, just stop casting. While this puts extra stress on the other healers (2-3 healers will be effected with unchained magic each time) as well as the other dps, if everyone steps up their game a little bit, and you add an extra healer it works better. Another thing you should keep in mind is that, until we get a nice damage / healing buff under our belts, you can't really afford to lose any healers or dps, or you will hit her berserk. Air Phase:
During this phase you also get 1 additional ice block for heroic mode which means you have to rearrange where everyone stands. The best way that we found to arrange them was a 3 point triangle, where 2 of the marks stand on top of each other at each of the points. They do take extra damage this way, however if they are topped off before the ice hits, and they have hots on them for after the ice hits then things will be fine. Phase 3:After you can manage to get to phase 3 with at least most of your raid alive you are phased with the challenge of mystic buffet which does a bunch more damage and must be cleared as often as possible, in my case I tried to use every single ice block that formed. It is a good idea to assign 3 or 4 people as tank healers during this phase since 2-3 could be effected with unchained magic at all times, as well as a couple of people who will be raid healing, and trust me the raid will be taking LOTS of damage this phase. A few more Tips and Tricks:While it seems like the raid is taking massive amounts of damage in phase 3, it is not that heavy, more constant. Because of this I switched my glyphs up a bit so that I could spread my hots over more people. Doing this allowed me to spread my rejuvenation and wild growth over more people. This also allows my teir-10 more opportunities to proc as well as [Trauma] and [Althor's Abacus]. It may seem like with the increased ticking of rejuvenation would make up for being able to spread it over a few more people but with the added wild growth it ends up procing more often. My last tip is:
comment Heroic: Professor Putricide 25-Man
Many say that this is the hardest heroic encounter in ICC apart from the Lich King, I must say I agree. After a lot of practice, a lot of patience, and many different strategies, our guild has now killed him. I'd like to start out by saying nice work to all of them! Also I would like to send out a special congratulations to Itsabeboo on getting [Shadowmourne], good job buddy! The Encounter:The main difference in the 25-Man Heroic encounter from its regular encounter is unbound plague. During phase 1 it is pretty much the only thing different in the heroic version of the fight, with the exception that he hits harder and so do the oozes. Practice handling the plague during phase 1, there is a lot more you will have pay attention to in the future phases and it will quickly become overwhelming to try and continue practicing with the plague in phase 2. The tank who is tanking the professor will need lots of heals during this phase as well as whoever has the unbound plague. The way that I kept track of who had the plague at any given time was by adding it to the debuffs that my healbot shows (Code: #72855), for more information on how to add debuff codes click here. I also found it very useful to keep rejuvenation on the Abom at all times (assuming you are spec 'ed into revitalize) to help make sure he/she is able to slow all of the oozes. Phase Transition:Phase transition is different now as well, instead of stunning you he will now spawn both and orange and a green ooze at once. On the bright size however he takes longer to make and drink his potion so that you have time to kill the oozes. There is however another trick that makes them harder to kill, the professor will randomly give ooze variable to half of the raid and gas variable to the other half. You can only attack the green ooze if you have ooze variable and you can only attack the gas if you have gas variable, you don't have to pay much attention to this if you are a healer but it is a good thing to know. Because of the variables both gases will be alive longer and you can expect to see a lot more stacking and usually the gas has time to target 2 different people. Phase 2:The only addition to this phase will be of course the malleable goo, and you guessed it, it will hit much harder and often kill people if you don't get out of it. One addon that helps a bunch with this is AVR, which draws circles everywhere that the malleable goo's might explode at so that you can get out of them easier (to download AVR click here, you will also have to download AVR Encounters for it to work). I would not get used to this however because Blizzard is breaking it in patch 3.3.5. Phase 3:This, as in the regular encounter, is when the fight really gets tough. The tanks get hit very very hard during this phase and you will ned to assign several healers to make sure they stay alive. Also the raid will be taking massive amounts of damage towards the end of phase 3 when you run out of room to get out of malleable goo easily, as well as it gets really hard to control unbound plague with the restricted maneuver and will more or likely be bouncing around the raid and cause massive damage. In order to get him down in this phase, before the healing becomes really unmanageable, you will not want any raid members dead (which means no killing raid members to get rid of the plague). Unbound Plague:Managing the unbound plague is the hardest part of the heroic version of this fight and it is important to make sure you do it properly. We tried several things in my guild from letting shamans die with it and then using reincarnation, as well as using rebirth and soulstones, we tried having raid members just pass it off to each other, we tried having a set team to pass it amongst themselves (which worked well but left no room for error). In the end the strat that worked for us was a mix of a few, we would have a select team trading it off for the majority of the fight but often times we would just throw it in the melee or the ranged and let it jump around for a while (usually when it only had enough time left on it to jump around and then die off before it needed to be taken out). A few more Tips and Tricks:
Children's Week
This is one of the simpler ones to do, just go get your little orphan from stormwind or dalaran and then take them site seeing and out to get some ice cream. However you also kind of have to be mean, you have to abandon them, make them cry, and take them into battle, where every child should be. I personally went to stormwind to get my orphan and I kinda regretted it because I wanted a cute draenei orphan but got stuck with some snobby kid human. So after I got done playing around with my human orphan I went ahead to see if I could get a draenei orphan as well, even tho I had completed the quest line. The draenei orphan came from the outland quest lines and since I had already completed on of the Azeroth quests I couldn't do all three outland ones to get [Veteran Nanny]. Sad day, but at least it was not a required achievement for the title. Make sure you don't return all your orphans before you get [School of Hard Knocks] is another thing you'll have to make sure not to do, this one is required for the title. On a personal Level:So I'm still looking for a job in Salt Lake City, nothing for sure yet but 2 that are looking promising so keep your fingers crossed for me. Also there has been some issues with my insurance lately. Tell me if this makes sense to any of you, I went and got my wisdom teeth taken out on wed. and I filled out the paperwork asked if they'd take my new insurance and they called said yes that it'd just be $200 down so I paid it. After the surgery however they inform me that the insurance won't cover it and that I owe them an additional $1300. I assume I can fight it seeing as how I signed something saying I'd pay the full amount up front and I have a receipt for $200 but its just more stress then its worth. This whole personal level section is just something I'm trying out because, well I can do what I want if its my blog right? So has something like this happened to you? How did you deal with it? How are you all doing anyway's? Let me know. Back to Boomkin
No don't worry I am not going full boomkin I'm still a resto druid and probably always will be. I've been playing for quite a while however with 2 healing specs for different situations, and lately since me and the other healers in my guild have been getting pretty OP gear I don't really use my second spec much. Thus I have decided to ditch the second spec and start getting in touch with my owl/chicken side. Unfortunately all I have currently is healing gear so it may take me a while to get used to the rotation and get gear that will work well with it but... Yay! Something to do while we wait for Catyclism. Children's week is coming up tomorrow and I hope that I have time to get my title and do the achievements. I've been really busy lately with real life. I'm planning on moving to Salt Lake City and attending the University of Utah so I've spent a lot of time trying to find a new job up in that area as well as an apartment. Anyway's I can't really think of much else to say on anything.... Wish me luck on my job / apartment hunt! I hope that you are all having a lot of fun with ICC and other world of warcraft - related things. |
